Senior After-Hours Operations Dispatcher (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior After‑Hours Operations Dispatcher to join our U.S. OTR trucking team on a full‑time remote basis. Working the 3:30 p.m. – 12:30 a.m. Chicago Central Time shift, you will be the primary point of contact for CDL‑A drivers after the daytime teams finish, ensuring seamless logistics and safety compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Take over active drivers and loads from the daytime dispatch team and continue time‑sensitive tasks.
• Monitor pickups, deliveries, ETAs, driver locations, delays, and Hours of Service.
• Provide drivers with updated load information, directions, and facility instructions.
• Communicate significant delays to brokers, customers, shippers, or receivers.
• Review BOLs and PODs for completeness, damages, and seal issues.
• Collect detention times, receipts, and required load documents.
• Maintain accurate driver and load statuses in the Transportation Management System (TMS).
• Develop immediate backup plans when original routes become impossible.
• Coordinate roadside assistance, towing, and repairs for breakdowns.
• Identify unsafe equipment, monitor legal Hours of Service, and flag critical safety concerns.
• Escalate accidents, out‑of‑service orders, cargo claims, and serious safety events.
• Prepare a clear handoff for the daytime team.

Required profile

• Extensive experience as a carrier‑side dispatcher in a high‑volume trucking environment.
• Strong knowledge of safety compliance, fleet management, and ELD systems.
• Ability to work independently during night hours and make rapid operational decisions.
• Fluent English communication skills.
