Freight and Clearing Lead

About the role

Spinneys PH is seeking a Freight and Clearing Lead to manage the importation, freight, and customs clearance of supermarket goods, ensuring timely and cost‑efficient delivery from international and local suppliers to distribution centres and stores across the Philippines.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee inbound sea and air shipments, coordinating with suppliers, freight forwarders and port authorities.
• Plan and monitor shipments from origin to Philippine ports (Manila, Cebu, Davao) and optimise logistics routes for archipelagic distribution.
• Manage cold‑chain logistics for perishable items, ensuring product integrity.
• Ensure compliance with Bureau of Customs regulations and obtain necessary permits from FDA, DA, DTI and BIR.
• Review import documentation (Entry Declaration, Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice, Packing List) and work with customs brokers to expedite clearance.
• Coordinate with foreign and local suppliers, freight forwarders, trucking companies and internal teams (procurement, merchandising, warehouse, store operations).
• Monitor freight, duties, taxes and clearing costs, compute landed costs and negotiate rates.
• Support inventory planning by providing shipment visibility and minimising stock‑outs.
• Identify and mitigate risks such as port congestion, customs inspections or documentation issues.
