Cargo Handling Equipment Operator

About the role

The Cargo Handling Equipment (CHE) Operator ensures the safe and efficient movement of containers within the port yard. You will follow daily plans, conduct equipment inspections, and coordinate with supervisors to keep cargo flowing on time and within safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Attend toolbox meetings to receive daily cargo and vessel information.
• Execute container movements according to the Operations Supervisor’s plan.
• Inspect assigned CHE units using the safety checklist before use.
• Report any abnormal equipment behavior and halt operations when risks are identified.
• Communicate issues or delays to the Operations Supervisor promptly.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment at the end of each shift.
• Participate regularly in department and safety meetings.

Required profile

• High school diploma or college level education.
• 3‑4 years of experience operating Cargo Handling Equipment.
• Valid Driver’s License (Code 1, 2, 3, and 8) and NC II certification.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and yard management plans.
