Specialist SEND Tutor – Flexible Tutoring in Wigan

About the role

We are seeking passionate Specialist SEND Tutors to deliver flexible, one‑to‑one or small‑group tuition for Key Stage 3 and 4 learners in the Wigan area. You will work with young people who are out of school, at risk of exclusion, or have complex SEND or SEMH needs, helping them re‑engage with education.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver bespoke lessons tailored to each learner’s interests, abilities and learning style.
• Support core academic subjects such as English and Maths, as well as wider curriculum areas.
• Build confidence, emotional regulation and relationship skills.
• Prepare students for possible reintegration into mainstream education.
• Maintain accurate records of progress and communicate with the specialist SEND team.

Required profile

• Experience working with SEND, SEMH, autism, ADHD, anxiety or behavioural challenges (highly desirable).
• Resilience, patience and strong emotional intelligence.
• Passion for inclusive education and empathy for vulnerable learners.
• Ability to adapt lessons creatively and work independently.

Required skills

• Knowledge of SEND and SEMH educational strategies.
• Ability to plan and deliver differentiated instruction.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
