Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

WSP is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design of mechanical services for building projects. You will work with a global team, applying engineering standards and collaborating across disciplines to deliver high‑quality mechanical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical services and associated building systems.
• Manage and maintain drawing records in line with WSP QA procedures.
• Apply relevant legislation, standards, guidelines and project specifications.
• Coordinate with internal teams, partners, and clients locally and internationally.
• Control design outputs according to the project work programme.
• Attend project meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary activities.
• Support training and development of junior staff.
• Ensure compliance with SHEQ obligations and safety‑in‑design principles.
• Prepare technical reports for small to medium projects.
• Utilise HVAC software and 3D modelling tools to develop system designs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
• Registered Mechanical Engineer (RME) designation is a plus.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical design for building services.
• Familiarity with HVAC load estimation tools such as Camel or similar.

Required skills

• HVAC system design and load calculation.
• Use of HVAC software and 3D modelling applications.
• Interpretation and drafting of construction plans, schematics and blueprints.
• Ventilation requirement calculations.
• Technical report writing.
