Legal Counsel (Energy Projects)

About the role

The Legal Counsel will support ACEN and its group in the Philippines by providing expert legal, governance, and compliance advice for energy development projects. The role ensures that all activities comply with applicable laws, mitigate risk, and align with business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on permitting, licensing, and regulatory compliance with agencies such as DOE, ERC, DENR, NCIP, and local LGUs.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize project development, design/supply/installation/construction, and O&M contracts, and maintain contract templates.
• Support stakeholder engagement with government bodies and local communities.
• Manage disputes, claims, and litigation related to project development and construction.
• Assist in the transition of completed projects to operations.

Required profile

• Law degree (LLB or JD) and a valid license to practice law in the Philippines.
• 8–10 years of experience as an in‑house lawyer (preferably in the energy sector) or at a reputable law firm.
• Extensive experience in energy‑sector regulatory compliance and contract preparation.
• Proven track record in handling claims, disputes, and litigation for large‑scale projects.
