In-House Legal Counsel

About the role

We are seeking a commercially‑minded In‑House Legal Counsel to join aCommerce’s legal team in Manila. Reporting to the Group Head of Legal and with a dotted line to the Country CEO, you will support the company’s fast‑growing e‑commerce operations across Southeast Asia.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, maintain contract templates and advise stakeholders on contractual risk.
• Manage corporate and operational licences, monitor regulatory developments and liaise with government agencies.
• Develop and enforce compliance policies, support data‑privacy obligations under the Philippine Data Privacy Act and deliver training.
• Provide first‑level tax advice on VAT, withholding tax and related matters, coordinate with external tax advisors and the BIR.
• Handle pre‑litigation disputes, maintain litigation registers, draft demand letters and coordinate external counsel.
• Advise on employment matters, represent the company before labour tribunals and update HR policies in line with Philippine labour law.

Required profile

• LL.B. or J.D. from a Philippine law school and member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines in good standing.
• Minimum five years of post‑admission experience in a law firm, in‑house team or a combination thereof.
• Filipino nationality with legal education and professional experience obtained in the Philippines.
• Strong knowledge of Philippine corporate, commercial, labour and regulatory law.
• Experience in e‑commerce, technology, retail or a regional business environment is an advantage.
