Field Service Engineer (Retail Technology)

About the role

We are looking for a highly technical Field Service Engineer to join the APAC Operations team of a global leader in retail technology. The role bridges physical installation and digital intelligence of advanced 3‑D camera people‑counting systems, managing remote commissioning and network integration for major retailers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the technical installation phase remotely, coordinating with on‑site licensed electricians to mount and cable 3‑D stereo‑vision sensors.
• Configure network settings – IP addresses, VLANs, VPNs, firewall rules, port forwarding and DHCP – to integrate cameras and gateways into retailer networks.
• Establish secure data transmission to the cloud platform and liaise with client IT departments to obtain credentials and ensure compliance with security policies.
• Perform software‑based sensor calibration, including height mapping, zone definition and flow direction, to achieve sub‑centimeter accuracy.
• Validate counting accuracy against live traffic, adjust parameters to meet project KPIs, and commission devices on the proprietary platform.
• Maintain detailed documentation of installation parameters, calibration settings and hardware serial numbers, and provide escalated remote troubleshooting post‑deployment.

Required profile

• Strong background in IT networking and field dispatch experience.
• Hands‑on problem‑solver who works autonomously in the field.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with electricians and retailer IT teams.
