Family Practitioner (General Practitioner) – Rural BC

About the role

The Cortes Community Health Association is seeking a Family Practitioner to deliver comprehensive primary care to the residents of Cortes Island, a remote community in northern Gulf Island, British Columbia. The role offers the opportunity to build longitudinal relationships and provide culturally safe health services in a modern clinic setting.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general primary care, including consultations, examinations, and urgent same‑day access.
• Deliver services in addictions medicine, primary reproductive care, and chronic disease management.
• Perform minor medical procedures and emergency care in the treatment space.
• Monitor patients continuously and ensure appropriate follow‑up.
• Contribute to the year‑over‑year increase in patient attachment goals.

Required profile

• Licensed Family Physician eligible to practice in British Columbia.
• Willingness to work part‑time (2‑4 physicians) or full‑time in a rural setting.
• Commitment to culturally safe care for Indigenous and local populations.
• Ability to collaborate with clinic staff, including nurses and remote pharmacy services.

What we offer

• Recruitment incentive up to $20,000 (full‑time).
• Relocation reimbursement up to $15,000.
• Retention premium of 16.07% and annual flat fee of $24,896.
• Rural CME funding ranging from $1,320 to $5,720 per year.
